歴史
A.SELMER Mark Ⅶは、1974年から1980年まで製造されていたモデルです。
Mark Ⅶは、Mark Ⅵの後継機として登場し、エレクトリック音楽が流行した時代に合わせて、パワフルで力強いサウンドを特徴としています。
進化したポイントとして、ハイF#キーが標準装備されたことが挙げられます。Mark Ⅵではオプションだったこのキーが、Mark Ⅶからは標準となり、演奏の幅が広がりました。また、キーの形状も改善され、演奏時のフィーリングがより向上しています。
サウンドは、明るく、パワフルで勢いのある響きが特徴です。瞬時に反応するバリッとした音色は、特に高音域でその力を発揮し、ビッグバンドやジャズ、ファンクなどのジャンルでの活躍が期待されます。
特にMark Ⅵと比較すると、よりバリッとした明るい音色が魅力です。
現行と比べると、Mark ⅦはSELMERの最新モデルに近い演奏感を持ちながらも、「テーブルキー」のサイズが特徴的で存在感があります。
またネック部分には現行モデルでも採用されている「Sマーク」が取り入れられており、クラシックな魅力と現代的な要素が融合したデザインが楽しめます。
History
The A. SELMER Mark VII was manufactured between 1974 and 1980.
Produced as the successor to the Mark VI, the Mark VII was designed to match the era of electric music, featuring a powerful and bright sound.
One of its key improvements was the high F# key, which became a standard feature. Unlike the Mark VI, where it was optional, the Mark VII included it by default, expanding the instrument’s versatility. Additionally, the key design was refined, enhancing the overall playing experience.
The sound is bright, powerful, and energetic. It delivers a clear and powerful tone with just one blow, excelling particularly in the higher registers—making it well-suited for big band, jazz, and funk.
Compared to the Mark VI, the Mark VII stands out with its brighter and more powerful tone. In terms of playability, the Mark VII feels quite similar to modern SELMER saxophones. However, one of its defining characteristics is its larger table keys, which set it apart from other models.
Additionally, the "S" logo on the neck—a feature still present on modern SELMER models—adds a blend of classic charm and modern design elements.
